Dropped frames in 9.11
#1
Hi
After making a fresh install of Live 9.11 on a USB stick, I seem to get more dropped frames than I did in 8.11.
I'm not using VDPAU, since my Nvidia 7100 doesn't support it.
I tried overclocking the cpu (Core 2 E8500) from 3.16 to 3.8 GHz, and it helped somewhat, but I'd like to know if there might be some software workaround for it.
I've tried all shaders but VDPAU, but doesn't make any noticeable difference.
The problem seems more pronounced with high bitrate movies, the one here is around 17 Mbit/s bitrate.
See log below.

I see you're using the linux version, i cant  Optical audio issues.

Anyway, I think I have similar issues, I also see those events in the log:
Code:
WARNING: CDVDVideoCodecFFmpeg::Decode - avcodec_decode_video didn't consume the full packet. size: 90802, consumed: 0

And you know, the thing that upsets me the most is that, the performance of XBMC in Linux is really really better than Windows (on this same PC), and I can't see why there's such a difference.

In the case of my windows version, I ran a tracing tool (procmon.exe from Sysinternals) and I saw lots of reg queries while video playback was running... and I wonder why....

I hope there's a common cause for our problems..
Good Luck!
Bye. Rodrigo

I had the same problem with my old 7600 gt non-vdpau card

Propably your problem will be solved by setting the Brithness and Contrast to 50 (in the middle) in the video settings (when playing a file).

Then save the settings for all movies.

Thanks fot the suggestion. I tried, but sadly it didn't work. All the settings there were already at 50/50, and the rest also at their default.

Well, I gave up and bought a Nvidia 9500 GT card for like 40$, and it solved the problem.
