How to access USB Hard Disk (to copy files)
#1
Hi All,

I've just got my XBMC Live set up as I want with a usr partition for my media. What I was looking to do is connnect a USB external Hard Drive and transfer some of my media from the USB drive onto the XBMC box disk. I've tried using Putty to SSH in and access the mnt, but I'm not getting any files show up - does anybody know how I could go about accessing the mounted USB drive on the XBMC terminal to copy files, as I for some reason I don't have permission for FTP transfer for the usr directory and it's pretty slow by comparison as there is quite a lot I want to move?

Thanks,

James

Hi,

on my XMBC Live install, the usb hdd's are automatically mounted ion /media and not /mnt
have a look in /media after you plugged the usb hdd in. might take a few seconds for the hdd to show up. best to check where it is mounted would be "mount" on the command line, that shows where a partition is mounted.

hope that helps

They should show up in the file manager. Press right on the system entry at the main menu.
