Fanart as background in home screen

First off let me say that Alaska is by far the best skin for XBMC.

I just wanted to know if it was possible to have custom fanart cycle as a background in the home screen and the picture for Movies, TV shows etc stay static. PM3 and Aeon have that capability and I'm wondering if I just missed it in the settings.

No it's not. It has been mentioned many times that alaska is intended to be this way an anti-aeon if you will.
As with any skin however you can easily mod or fork it to fit your needs. Shouldn't be too hard to accomplish with a little effort.

Nah I was just looking for an alternative to having the Movies, TV etc cycle. I actually prefer how it looks now but it causes my asrock 330 to stutter when multiple images for Movies, TV etc cycle. I figured with the background image cycling, it would only be one image at a time thus reducing the strain on my HTPC.

Speaking of would an increase in cpu speed or increase in RAM help with the multi image cycle?
