Hi,
until now I was using SMB to share my Movies from my Macbook to my Ubuntu XBMC PC, but now Ive discovered Playback for Mac, which is an UPnP Server for Mac. It works great especially a lot faster than SMB but I cant use Scraper because XBMC doesnt get the filenames but some nummeric code, so XBMC isnt able to find the titles of the movies.
Is there a workaround to use UPnP the way I want to or is it a bug of my Playback software?

You can't scrape upnp content into the library, and it certainly won't be faster than smb....

Ok I already thought so. But why can I forward or rewind only playing per UPnP? Everytime I want to skip for example 10 minutes using SMB XBMC stocks until it quits the videofile. But I have to say it only happens playing a HD Movie. SD Movies and HD TV Shows work just fine.
Do you have an idea?

Without a debug log, and a proper description my magic eightball blames it on gremlins living in your mac who dont like the movie you are trying to watch.

Ok I'm using PPA for XBMC on an Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic x86 Installation. My media files are shared from my macbook over SMB as I said. So I started Casino Royale 1080p and after it started I hit the Up Key on my keyboard so XBMC should skip 10 minutes. This took about 10 seconds. Here is my debug log http://pastebin.com/d60f5356
And as I said sometimes even the movie quits...

I don't think that there is something wrong with my XBMC setup because I have this issue from the beginning. Until yet I thought its a problem caused using SMB because if I play a movie using UPnP I can skip 10 minutes very fast.
On my macbook I'm using the default SMB sharing option...

Hopefully you can help me

try mounting the smb folder using fstab or manual mount instead of using our client. (ours is horrible for multitasking)
