[AppleTV] Compiling crystalhd-for-osx Lib/Kext
#46
A Milton Wrote:Yep. I found this though: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=3...post321067

Seems like I've done something wrong building the ports, even though I copy/pasted from the README.osx:

Code:
port install libcdio +universal

I tried changing it to:

Code:
port install libcdio +universal macosx_deployment_target=10.4

and reinstalled it, but I have NO idea if it will make any difference. Only time will tell, ~45 minutes for XBMC to build, to be more precise Smile

Good Luck with it, I had to do it few times and I dont envy you at all Smile

Seems like I had skipped some parts in macports.conf, namely the parts having to do with 10.4 compatibility. I followed the guide at http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-port-depends/ and then I skimmed through README.osx. Guess I'll have to rebuild my ports now. Smile

i gave up, shame on me..
i have macports 1.8.1 on my mbp and i cant' replace it because i need it to do stuff for my work. Sad
i could use my old macmini ppc g4 but it's going to be a looong waa to build 1.7.1 port fork and then xbmc.Nod
I'll wait for this evening, hope sshcs will compile a crystal enabled build.

My MBP has NEVER had to work this hard during its 3 1/2 years in this world.

I know this is probably a stupid question - but here goes:

If I run ./configure to setup macports 1.7.1 on my ppc ibook, will it then be configured to build binaries for my arch or is it possible to have it build universal/i386 binaries?

It must be possible to compile for i386 on a ppc mac with macports, right?

Jim.

[edit] Sorry, I'm an idiot! It's in the conf file. Learn to read!

You can edit /opt/local/etc/macports/macports.conf and make it compile for the platform you'd like.

At least the macports version from xbmc-port-depends had both ppc and i386 specified by default.

Edit: Be sure to make the changes to macports.conf instructed by README.osx in the XBMC svn checkout. I didn't, and I had to recompile everything.

Thumbs Up
Hi i'm new to this forum, but i saw that some of you are expericing some difficulties with compiling the XBMC SVN. I've compiled and packaged R26455 this morning without any problems. I've uploaded it to my server so feel free to download it if you are expericing problems compiling XBMC.

Did you compile/link against the crystalhd headers/lib when you built it?

Btw, thanks!

Edit:
Can't find any mentions of "crystal" in the XBMC binary via otool:
Code:
% otool -l XBMC | grep crystal
% otool -L XBMC  | grep crystal

So if you could post a new build of XBMC which builds against libcrystalhd too it would be great.

Thanks man! Figured it out before I read your post, but would have been a solid tip that would have helped me out! Have you had any luck building it yet? I've only got Xcode 3.0 installed, so I have to get a newer version before I start buliding it....

Well, when I said that I _had_ to recompile it, I really meant that I _am_ recompiling it. And by it I mean the ports. Will be a couple of hours before I can try a freshly built XBMC on the ATV Smile
