It has just the right buttons to use XBMC. Unfortunately, it does not have enough buttons to replace your other remotes Sad There are no power buttons (need one for TV, one for HTPC) there are no volume buttons.
So even if you only ever use XBMC and never switch inputs to regular TV (or a blu-ray player, or a XBOX, etc.) - you still need an additional remote for power/volume. Also - no IR on the Boxee remote. That means even if it did have power/volume buttons, they wouldn't work with your TV anyway.
I'm hopeful the Tivo Slide will be better, but haven't looked at it in enough detail yet to know - though it's retail now, so all the info is out there.

What are these links for? I get a white screen saying "not authorized to access" or something like that. Is it because I'm not in the US?

They were links to FCC specs on the remote, but I can't see them now either...

Do you have to sit sideways when using the qwerty functionsLaugh

It would seem to be aimed in the wrong direction when using the keyboard.

Damn remote won't turn the boxee on.
DAMN.
This would make the remote impressive.
Boxee missed the boat on no "Power On" from the remote.

Impressive list of Features and Limitations.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1265799

Limitations:
  • # RF remote control won't integrate in universal remote setups (although speculation exists for support of USB IR adapters).
  • # Cannot turn box on via IR remote, turning it off via IR remote will require a key press sequence so might not be mappable for universal remotes.
  • # No scraping of local artwork and .nfo
  • # No ability to centrally manage any kind of media database for multiple boxee boxes.
  • # Does not break out media shares by content type (movies, TV shows, home movies, etc)... appears to rely on IMDB entirely for scraping.
  • # No content partnerships announced.
  • # Cannot play DRM protected files.
  • # No support for USB attached optical drive
  • # No support for TV tuner or direct DVR functionality
  • # No standardized SDK for easier application development
  • # Boxee delayed the introduction of the Boxee Box, which was originally slated to go on sale in Q1 2010 to November of 2010 due to concerns that the software was not in a good enough slate for release due to performance issues with Tegra 2. This has led to concerns about the software quality on the final shipping product or that there might be large deviation between what is seen in the Beta for use on PC and Mac and what the set top box version will be like

The remote turns on my Boxee Box without problem, so I'm not sure where you got your information from. This includes from sleep mode and from being powered down. I was surprised at this because I think I read in various forums and previews that there would be no remote power on capability. But, like I said, it works for me.

Someone tried? It has been for sale some days right now.

Really love the design of the remote but i'm still undecided to buy it.
