Problematic files with broadcom/crystalhd hardware
#1
I have done some testing on my appletv with crystalhd - running on osx. I have several files that show issues on r26454. Below is a debug log where I run 2 files that show issues (stuttering, and eventuall stop of playback) and the corresponding media info for both files.

Mediainfo 1: http://pastebin.com/m7dfedaf
Mediainfo 2: http://pastebin.com/m380bf234

Might be an idea to include a sample of the file too? - others can verify if they see it too, and there's a source for davilla to test against too.

Grml, that's what you get for ommiting info and not writing that it's actually a friends appletv that I do the dirty work for over ssh and 150km distance Wink Will see if I can ssh in, smb mount his share and dd me a sample Wink

I have some problems with the two files I've tested so far.

xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/f2e346b6c
MediaInfo, test1.mkv: http://pastebin.com/fb7c5401
MediaInfo, test2.mkv: http://pastebin.com/f2c17556d

If I, while playing test1.mkv, try to switch between analog and digital audio out the video turns greenish, and it doesn't go back. I have to restart playback.

test2.mkv seems to only occupy the upper part of my screen, all squished together, with the bottom part green.

I have sample files that I could PM you links to if that would be helpful. I also have a photo of test2.mkv playing.

test1.mkv sounds like renderer forgot it was rendering nv12 and not yv12. Does this happen with other videos (changing audio from analog to digital or back)?

test2.mkv looks like the classic issue with interlaced content. MediaInfo is not showing either progressive nor interlaced info. I wonder why.

EDIT: your advancedsettings.xml file looks borked.

I almost never switch to analog, so I don't know. I know that it doesn't happen with test2. I can try to check later with some other videos.

Sounds like the encoding is weird then... The filename suggests 1080p, but I don't know if the encoded data really is 1080p. It probably is 1080i then?

Do you know a simple way of repackaging the video? Smile

Yeah... I downloaded it from somewhere since I couldn't get some of my TV Shows scraped... I saw that it spewed all over the log Smile

Btw, VLC plays the file in correct aspect ratio, and I don't see any signs that the video is interlaced. But I could be fooled by the downscaling or something...

Edit: Wow. Triple post... I'm gonna get myself banned.

I tried with 3 other 720p videos and they all turned greenish when changing between digital/analog.

not a video problem, renderer issue.

Yeah, I figured, since I've never seen it before switching to Crystal HD Smile

But, it's not a big problem for me. I'm sure there are many more important bugs to work out.

Hi Davilla

Playback of AVCHD Camcorder clips is a problem. Ones I have are encoded 1080i25. Stutter all the way through and have tried all the de-interlace options.

Noticed in the todo of the driver there is mention of "Decoder bussy on 1080i25" so assume it's being looked at. Haven't bothered with other logs because of this and can paste a small clip if you want to test

MediaInfo

** EDIT ** Ok - Just seen a thread from December mentioning it's on your todo list. If you want a sample i can happily provide

I'm having similar problems to A Milton test2.mkv file. Any interlaced BBC HD recordings I've made which I try and playback result in what looks like a 4:3 picture (black borders left and right) with the video playing in the top half of the screen and green in the bottom part. I suspect A Milton's test2.mkv is from an interlaced BBC HD source as well.

Yup. Sounds likely.
