I am keeping two versions of XBMC as I learn more about it. In R26018 VDPAU can be set in Settings --> Video --> Playback --> Render Method.

In R26489 VDPAU is no longer an option and the VDPAU studio level color conversion has also disappeared.

Having said this the I cannot see significant difference between the two versions.

My graphics driver is
19:13:19 T:3078408064 M:1745174528 NOTICE: GL_VERSION = 3.2.0 NVIDIA 195.30

There is no reference to VDPAU in either of the logs. So perhaps it is not working in either.

Does anyone have any idea what I might be missing

Your libvdpau is likely out-dated. I suspect a quick search on here will yield results on how to update it.

Thank you motd2k, that was the issue. What foxed me, when I posted this message libvdpau was upto date, but when I recompiled it was fixed.
