XBMC with the Nouveau driver
#1
Hello,
In my computer, i've got an Nvidia 6800 which is configured to use the Nouveau driver (opensource driver) but this driver only provides an experimental opengl support!

For the moment, i'm able to launch XBMC and to use it but it is quite slow and the opengl rendering doesn't always work correctly! And sometimes, it crashes!

I do want to use XBMC and don't want to use the proprietary Nvidia driver!

Is there a way to configure XBMC in order to make it use as less opengl animations as possible ? Is it possible to disable some features to make it more lightweight ?

Thank you in advance

I guess if your absolutely desperate to run XBMC on an unstable/incomplete driver you can try to compile XBMC with --disable-gl but it will be very slow however it could be more stable than running it in OpenGL
Or you can disable skin animations in Settings. You'll then probably need to set Video to software rendering also.

I'm clueless as to why your not using the Nvidia driver until Nouveau matures. Your just making life a lot harder for yourself.
