xbmc-bin on Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't fit
#1
Hello!
I want to install xbmc on a Dell mini 9 running Ubuntu 8.04 lpia. LPIA is no longer supported by canonical, therefore, there is no easy way to upgrade to eg 9.x Netbook remix.

I followed
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_insta...Step_Guide

Everything works until I try to install selected packages. Neither the synaptic package manager nor apt-get ... can resolve some dependencies. Among the non-resolved dependencies, this one

Quote:xbmc-data:
Hängt ab: »xbmc-bin (>=1:9.11-hardy1)«, aber es wird »1:9.11~rc1-hardy1« installiert.

my translation:
Quote:xbmc-data
"depends on: »xbmc-bin (>=1:9.11-hardy1)«, but »1:9.11~rc1-hardy1« is going to be installed"

is the only one which doesn't depend on xbmc-data. For my limited unix knowledge, I need xbmc-bin 9.11-hardy1 without the "release candidate"...

Google found

https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+ar...ld/1413562

I can download the xbmc-bin...hardy1...386 file. But then: how do I manage to integrate this (or any other needed file) in the installation routine/script of synaptic or apt-get?

Thanks!
