Only an advancedsettings.xml option unless something changes, skinners have no control with this setting...

Isn't Parent Folders something completely different? I'm leaving work shortly so I'll have a look when I get home. mcborzu Wrote:Only an advancedsettings.xml option unless something changes, skinners have no control with this setting... I suppose I'll submit this as an XBMC request then. Thanks! |

Discussed in this thread, with a link to my original thread inside. Don't worry, it's less than 10 posts total

The option has been determined to be of value for a minority of users, hence the "advancedsetting" status.
Why does that not fit your needs? Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first. |

Mostly because people I know have really taken notice of my XBMC setup lately and want me to do the same for them. I'm looking at potentially up to a dozen installs soon, and a small setting in the options menu is easier than scrolling through XML every time.
The main annoyance is that skins like Transparency adding the option for season fanart into tv shows makes having the "All Seasons" button a little awkward. Whenever I select a show, it goes to "All Seasons" by default, which has the same fanart and poster as the show in the full list of all TV shows. I'd just prefer that it start out at Season 1, which would have a different fanart and poster. It just seems like a pretty quick thing for someone to add into the XBMC options menu, but I suppose they probably have bigger fish to fry. |

I'm aware; I've already done it on my own personal setup. I still think it would be easier. Now that there's a slim chance we could see XBMC devices someday thanks to the work of Sigma, it's probably a good idea to move options like this away from being exclusive to people who will go into the filesystem and edit XML by hand.

I agree about an option for All Seasons. I would personally love to have it at the bottom of the listings instead of the top. Please bring this option back. I know it's all about simplicity but it's also about function and a balance between the two. What's better? a user being annoyed every day by having to click an extra step past "All Seasons" or an extra option in settings that may annoy/confuse a user that 1 day where he/she had to go to settings?

For those of you suggesting editing xml files please consider this: a vast majority of users DO NOT know about this setting and will NOT discover it if it's buried in XML. However, if it's in the GUI, this setting is discoverable and may prove invaluable for many who didn't even know it existed. I'm one of those people.
