Does this addon work on OpenElec?
Seems to me that maybe MakeMKC openelec comes with may not be the full version required?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi! This might be a silly question to ask in the Linux thread, but I run a Windows 8 and have been trying to playback a Bluray etc, etc. I've installed MakeMKV, XMBC, and the plug-in, but every time I try to play back the disk, Windows gives me the old 'XMBC has shut down...checking for a solution" bit. If I try to browse the disk, the buffer menu comes up for a split second before Windows comes back saying that MakeMKV has shut down instead. XBMC then tells me that it was shut down and asks if I installed it correctly. Where go what do?

Thanks for your help guys; any advice would be a real life saver. Unfortunately my script knowledge is next to none so I've been scrambling to find a solution.

Hi
As your using windows make sure makemkv is actually working first, just see if you can rip a blueray/dvd. if you can then its most likely some script problem in xbmc...as your using windows you have far more options for bluray playback with the added advantages of having menus ect
do a search around here, somewhere are few tuts on getting bluray playback working under the win ver of xbmc

Ok, I am running Openelec (3.1.5) and with makemkv installed (3.1.1) and BluRay Player with MakeMKV (1.0.0) installed i get this message:

"Running MakeMKV ended abnormally. Is it installed?"

Is anyone familiar with this message?

Did you add a registration key for makemkv?

It won't work without

Create a file called settings.conf, add the following line to the file (exchange the XXXXXX for the key)

Code:
app_Key = "XXXXXX"

place this file in the .MakeMKV folder of your openelec system.

You can get the latest temporary beta key here

I just finished fixing this problem myself. The disc number is specified in the plugin (notice the <"makemkvcon" stream disc:0>, so if your optical drive is not disc:0, it will fail. I'm assuming you have more than one drive and the drive you are trying to read from is not drive 0 since your issue mirrors mine exactly. You can manually change the drive number in the plugin.

Then look in your default.py in .xbmc/addons/plugin-bluray in your home folder. Look for a Line with disc:0 or what ever and change it to your ID.

If you only have two discs you could just skip using the console since it is probably disc:1
The line you are looking for is:
mkvStart = ' "%S" stream disc:0 '

Alternatively, you could try this:

With your browser, go to

https://github.com/abultman/plugin.makem...82e566afb6

On the right side of the page, click on the text "Downloads". That takes you to another page that has a button labeled "Download as zip" on the upper left. Click on that. Once it is downloaded, change the name of the file to plugin.makemkvbluray.zip. Now fire up XBMC and execute "Install from a zip file", browsing to where the plugin is located in your file system.

Hm. I have attached only one USB BR drive to my HTPC. Nevertheless I will try it out. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to get SVP to work with this? I figured since it's converting to MKV on the fly that it would just work...but it doesn't seem to...I'm trying to find a legit way to watch purchased movies on Blu-Ray using SVP and it seems impossible. I figured getting a BD drive would be a good thing...but it looks like just downloading MKVs is still the best option.

Hi!

I installed XBMCbuntu on my HTPC and configured MakeMKV to watch BluRays over it. It works fine with "The Godfather Triology" and other movies.
Now, I bought the "Batman Triology" and I wanna watch "Batman The Dark Night Rises". When the Stream loads at the beginning, it starts with
English and chinese Subtitles. But I wanna watch the movie in German.
So I stopped the Stream and changed the soundtrack to an different one. When I starts the stream again, I have no sound in it but the Stream
is going on.
I thought about starting MakeMKV over the console but i think it's not possible in XBMCbuntu, right? Because I have no KDE or Gnome on
the HTPC installed.

Hope you can help me to solve my problem.

Hi people. obviously I am doing something wrong, because I cant get Bluray/makemkv running. I think it is a problem with the betakey conf file.
In a pdf I documented every single step I did. Can you please check my mistake?!
