I am really trying to get my revo to work. I have high hopes for this partimage to solve my issues.
This is what I have as steps needed to burn the partimage. Perhaps I could ask you all to look at it and comment on the parts that I have questions on?
Create bootable usb drive with unetbootin and ubuntu 9.04 live.
?Copy partimage file to usb drive?
Boot revo from usb drive with Ubunto 9.04. Dont install on to revo, just boot from usb.
As thermite451 says in this post:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=501...stcount=22
Edit /etc/apt/sources.list to enable repositories
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install partimage smbfs -y
use fdisk to wipe the revos hard drive and create 3 new partitions (not too sure how to do this see below):
(from post 28,
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=501...stcount=28)
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 19177 154039221 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 19178 19457 2249100 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 19178 19457 2249068+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
sudo partimage, follow on-screen instructions to restore partimage file.
Questions:
If the partimage file is not on the usb drive, then I have to mount a network share somewhere and install from there?
fdisk commands?:
sudo fdisk /dev/sda
fdisk prompt> d 1
n to create a new partition
p to make it primary
1 so it is the first primary partition
not sure what other commands to use at this point or how to define the start and end....
fdisk prompt> d 2
e to make it an extended partition
not sure what other commands to use at this point or how to define the start and end ....
fdisk prompt> d 5 ??
not sure what other commands to use at this point or how to define the start and end ....
fdisk prompt> w
write table to disk and exit
format the partitions:
sudo mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sdb1
sudo mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sdb2
sudo mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sdb5
I assume the drive needs to be mounted at this point??
Thanks all!
