[AppleTV] Crystal HD *ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/
#1
Hello all.

I got my Crystal HD the other day and installed it and had it up and running for a few hours. After a while the video playback became choppy, so I restarted and came back to it tonight to see what was up. I updated r27056 and now I can't get the HD recognized at all.

dmesg shows this during boot:

Code:
BroadcomCrystalHD::start
allocated 18 elem
Starting BCM70012 Device
clock is moving to 175 with n 35 with vco_mg 2
CStopping BCM70012 Device
BroadcomCrystalHD: Found HW and started driver SW.

Then when I load XBMC I see this:

Code:
Starting BCM70012 Device
clock is moving to 175 with n 35 with vco_mg 2
CInitializing Dio pool 10 1024 3058 0x1dbbf24

*ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/crystalhd/driver/darwin/crystalhd_hw.c:1810: FwCmd Failed.
fw cmd 73763001 failed
Closing user[0] handle
Deleting IOQs
Releasing RX Pkt pool
Released dio pool 10
Stopping BCM70012 Device

This seems like a new error to me. Any ideas?

Thanks

Any chance this is just the SVN, or is my Crystal HD hosed?

Thanks

I've seen reports from some users with this error. The firmware download is timing out. The result seems to be a defective card.

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to try another card... hopefully the seller I got this from will exchange it.

It's strange that it worked for a while when I first installed it and then just crapped out. Sad

Oh well. Hopefully the next card works. I'm dying to get this up and running.

Hi. I just got my card and it's giving me the same error Sad

When the apple tv first starts
dmesg | grep -i crystal
BroadcomCrystalHD:Confusedtart
BroadcomCrystalHD: Found HW and started driver SW.
PCI sleep prevented by BroadcomCrystalHD (5)

What doesn't "PCI sleep prevented by BroadcomCrystalHD (5)" mean?

kextstat | grep crystalhd
78 0 0x302c0000 0xb000 0xa000 com.broadcom.crystalhd.driver (0.9.26) <5 4 3 2>

After I start XMBC
dmesg | grep -i crystal
BroadcomCrystalHD:Confusedtart
BroadcomCrystalHD: Found HW and started driver SW.
PCI sleep prevented by BroadcomCrystalHD (5)
*ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/crystalhd/driver/darwin/crystalhd_hw.c:1799: Firmware command T/O
*ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/crystalhd/driver/darwin/crystalhd_hw.c:1810: FwCmd Failed.

If I look at the XMBC log.
kextstat | grep crystalhd
bash-2.05b# grep -i crystal /Users/frontrow/Library/Logs/xbmc.log

Hi all,

just installed my crystal HD today. However I don't see the card in "Render method".

looking at the logs I get.

Thanks,

libcrystalhd.dylib is not found.

should be /usr/lib/libcrystalhd.dylib with correct permissions too.

I was having a similar issue... but turns out my setup was incorrect. Some of my config sets were incorrect causing the crystalhd not to load.

Perhaps others are having the same issue... Just be careful when editing your files.

I'm still having the same issue. I'm pretty sure the rc.local loaded and the kext load and detected. Did you get the firmware issue initially?I'm trying to do final testing before returning it.

dmesg | grep -i crystal

Re-did the instructions given and everything is working like a charm.

Thanks for the great work... and the support.

For the firmware timeout issue I was having as the few people in this post have had. I finally got my replacement card from Logic Supply.

Well, good news right after I put the new card in and turned it on it came right to life with no issues at all. So far it does in fact seem that replacing the card with a new one (from Logic Supply not ebay this time) fixes firmware issue. Just letting everybody else with this problem know. Smile

If someone in the US is willing to part with one of these troublesome cards that are having problems downloading firmware, I'd be interested in taking a peek at it and try and see why they are failing. No promises as to a fix as the card might just be defective. PM me and I'll send mailing info.

Just got my card in the mail and after installing it I appear to be having the exact same problem that this thread describes. I understand that it may just be defective card but if it is of any help let me know and I'll mail it to you.

Some details of what I did if it helps any follow.

This is after installing the drivers and rebooting.

-bash-2.05b$ sudo dmesg | grep -i crystal
Password:
BroadcomCrystalHD:Confusedtart
BroadcomCrystalHD: Found HW and started driver SW.

Everything appears to be in order.

Start up XBMC and no Broadcom device listed.

-bash-2.05b$ grep -i crystal /Users/frontrow/Library/Logs/xbmc.log
21:19:56 T:2684407808 M: 15474688 DEBUG: SECTION:LoadDLL(libcrystalhd.dylib)
21:19:56 T:2684407808 M: 15450112 DEBUG: Loading: libcrystalhd.dylib

21:20:20 T:2684407808 M: 43806720 INFO: CrystalHD: broadcom crystal hd not found

And....

bash-2.05b# dmesg | grep -i crystal
BroadcomCrystalHD:Confusedtart
BroadcomCrystalHD: Found HW and started driver SW.

The dreaded ;

Quote:ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/crystalhd/driver/darwin/crystalhd_hw.c:1799: Firmware command T/O

message.

A user is already sending me a card that does this, then I can see if there is a real driver/lib issue or if the card is borked.

I got this error at first:

ERR*:/Users/davilla/Documents/crystalhd-for-osx/trunk/crystalhd/driver/darwin/crystalhd_hw.c:1799: Firmware command T/O

Then I re-ran through the instructions again here:
http://todayguesswhat.blogspot.com/2010/...le-tv.html

I didn't notice anything that I'd missed, but I rebooted and tried again anyway, and after that the card worked!

Fingers crossed it stays that way Smile
