[LINUX] Discrete suspend/wake commands with MCE?
#1
I am setting up my universal remote to control my HTPC with XBMC along with my other AVR, TV, etc. I am using the MCE remote receiver to control XBMC. I can successfully suspend/wake the device with the Power button. The fact that it only wakes on the Power button is nice but I want to go a step further.

I would like discrete suspend and wake commands like I have discrete on/off for my other gear. This would allow me to use macros that may send an "on" command that will be ignored if the HTPC is already on and not wake up when I send an "off" command.

Is this possible?

Not with the wake-on-usb technique. You could use an XERC 2 XE and reprogram it for the MCE receiver if it doesn't have an equivalent to the "Display" on the Xbox DVD dongle, or just use the Xbox DVD dongle.

Here's how you can set up discrete suspend/wakeup. Works like a charm.

You are absolutely right. This is perfect. Thank you very much. I had almost given up hope.
