I have edited some rules for smart playlists and party mode, but these rules aren't used. Whenever i start the party mode songs are taken from the whole library and my rules are ignored. Is there some log or output file where i can search where my problem is?

The Debug Log should show the smartplaylist being called. Obviously you can just click on the playlist as well and see whether it's applying the rules you think it is.

in the xbmc.log i found:

Error loading Smart playlist (failed to parse xml: Error document empty.)

i have set some rules for the playlist. Could it be that these aren't written to the xml file? Maybe some user rights problem?
