I am running XBMC on AppleTV. I understand that the /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC folder is a persistant settings area that isn't affected when XBMC is updated. While I've had no problem with skins, plugins or scripts in this area, there are a few different items that XBMC doesn't recognize on startup when I place them here:
--
Any fonts that I place here (for subtitle use) are not recognized by XBMC:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/media/Fonts
But they are recognized fine if I place them in the main installation folder instead:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/media/Fonts
--
Any soundpacks that I place here (in their own folder) are not recognized by XBMC:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/sounds
But they are recognized fine if I place them in the main installation folder instead:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/sounds
--
If I name my custom keymap file joystick.AppleRemote.xml and place it here it isn't recognized:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/system/keymaps
If I name my custom keymap file Keymap.xml and place it here it isn't recognized (although it used to be):
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata
But it is loaded fine if I place it in the main installation folder instead:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/system/keymaps/joystick.AppleRemote.xml
--
Incidentally, although I use Transparency! mostly now, if I place my PM3.HD theme here, it isn't recognized:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/skin/PM3.HD/media/Brushed_Comb.xpr
In fact, doing this will create two grayed out entries for PM3.HD, but neither will load.
But it will loaded normally if I place it in the main installation folder instead:
/mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/skin/PM3.HD/media/Brushed_Comb.xpr
--
I didn't create a trouble ticket for this, because I figured that this behavior may be normal. As I mentioned, many of the files, including skins, plugins and scripts do load fine from the /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC folder. And all of the settings files in /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata operate normally.
Any ideas? Should I create a trouble ticket?
