[Linux] ASrock ION330HT-BD & Ubuntu: What am i doing wrong?
#1
This is the process i used to install Ubuntu 9.10 and XBMC on my ASrock ION 330HT-BD, 500GB HDD with 4GB RAM

1. I installed Ubuntu 9.10. (Used erase and use the entire disk option)

2. I updated Ubuntu through the Update Manager.

3. I activated the NVIDIA drivers.

4. I installed the remote control drivers from the ASrock website (http://www.asrock.com/nettop/download.as...BD&o=Linux) (v1.0.4) as described in the readme file. None/None in the first popup and then in the second popup choose in the first field Nuvoton Transceivers/Remotes.

5. I installed XBMC by using the following commands:

Quote:add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
apt-get update
apt-get install xbmc
apt-get update

6. I went into Synaptic Software Manager and clicked on XBMC standalone and installed it.

7. I opened the terminal and:

- alsamixer
- un-muted all devices, made them all green and and removed all red bars

8. Since i had no sound, i right clicked on the speaker icon on the desktop, and in the hardware tab it had Analog Stereo Output chosen. I chose Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output. Got the sound working.

9. I started XBMC, went to Video/Playback and:

- Render Method: VDPAU
- Studio level color correction: Enabled

10. I went into System/Video Output and:

- Resolution: Was set to 1360x768 @ 50.00 Full Screen. Other resoulutions where very small.
- Vertical Black Sync: Let driver choose (requires restart)

11. I went into System/Audio Output and:

- Selected Digital
- Dolby AC3 & DTS: Enabled
- Audio Output Device: Internal Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI)
- Passthrough Output Device: hdmi
- Downmix multichannel audio to stereo: Enabled

My problems:
============

A. The remote control does not work.
B. XBMC feels very slow and videos have a line in the middle when people are moving in the film.
C. I have a Grundig Vision 6 32-6930T TV connected to the ASrock through HDMI.

Can you please explain to me what i am doing wrong? This is the first time i have used Ubuntu. I have read numerous guides and i just keep getting confused.

- Is my TV and resolution to blame for the bad playback?
- Have i set up everything correctly and should work with another TV?
- Why isnt the remote control working?
- Did i correctly set up the sound?

Please if someone could help, i would greatly appreciate this, because i haven't enjoyed a single moment of my ASrock ION 330 HT-BD yet. Thank you in advance.

Helped me alot to get my Asrock ION 330 HT working.
For your sound issue: Why do you downmix everything to stereo but enable DTS and AC3 support?
