Does the Revo 3610 need to stay vertical?

I would like to put it on a shelf on it's side, but I don't know if that would block any vents.

I would say it is better to have it verticle, I've noticed that it exhausts a fair amount of hot air from the top vent. My netgear router which is put together in a similar way has issues if I have it horizontal. U could always try it and watch cpu/gpu temps (there is a script that adds it to xbmc i believe)

I have mine flat and its on pretty much 24/7 without problem. It is designed for vertical or horizontal mounting.
