can't get 1080p to work
#1
I have an Asrock ION 330 BD with Ubuntu Karmic and xbmc. The 1080p playback looks and sounds awful. Even the 720p has some issues. I tried both through xbmc and mplayer. What am I doing wrong?
I even tried installing windows 7 and it still cant play 1080p or 720p smoothly on Windows Media Player Classic.
Any help will be appreciated.

try the ion optimized XBMC live CD from xbmcfreak
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs

>= 2GB dual channel RAM, with >=512MB allocated to the GPU in the BIOS?

I run my ION with 2GB of dual channel memory and it can play all 1080p I throw at it.

GPU mem must be set to 512MB though in BIOS.

RWMS, you're not giving us much info to go on, but as a first effort, you might try some of the setup tweaks mentioned in my signature and see if any of those look like the problems you are running into.

You are using a wired connection right, or playing files from local disk? If not, start by moving your test file locally and get that running correctly before you try anything over the network.
