[Windows] mp3 Playback Problem
#1
Hi together,

i use XBMC on a Windows XP - Celeron 1,6Ghz, 1GB Ram.
Video works fine with a CPU-Load of 30%.
When I try to play a mp3 File (Various Bitrates tested) either from a local storage or from a network storage the sound "stutters" more or less and the Cpu-Load is 100%.
When I change the defaultplayer to dvdplayer, it works fine.
This error occurs under the 9.11 Stable (26017) and the latest nightly build (27482)
In the logfile ( http://pastebin.com/m3bbf75d ) all i can see is "...Buffer underrun..."

Any suggestions or feedback for me regarding this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I just tried this with a older Version of XBMC (9.04.20672) and everything works fine. After this test, i upgraded to the 9.11 stable (9.11.26017) and the problem is here again =(
My Windows has Servicepack 3 and the latest Updates installed.

The unofficial Build 27341-gl from http://sshcs.com/xbmc/ works a bit better(not so much dropouts).

Any ideas?

Wierd one. Try downloading and running the Microsoft DirectX installer from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...2d8712d553.

In Settings, System what have you got the audio output set to?

Hi,

i installed the DX-Redist from Microsoft and installed XBMC 9.11 stable. Same Problem with stuttering sound when I play audio files.
The audio hardware is Realtek AC 97 Audio. I tried Realtek driver Version 3.5 and 4.06 both the same errors.

Hi, I have the same problem on a newly build system. It's a Pentium 4 2.2GHz... Not the best, but mp3 playback should not be skipping. Mp3s and HD TV run fine through Media Player Classic/ffdshow.

The only error I get is the buffer underrun:

4:04:40 T:2108 M:309968896 WARNING: CWin32DirectSound::GetSpace - buffer underrun - W:39980, P:31264, O:37152.
14:06:28 T:2108 M:288264192 WARNING: CWin32DirectSound::GetSpace - buffer underrun - W:13188, P:5336, O:12384.

My audio was set to digital out. Switching to analog out makes Mp3s play better, but it should work with digital out as well.

Any idea on how to fix this?

I have the original Sound Blaster Live! PCI. Amazingly it actually will output digital audio - both PCM and compressed streams (DD5.1, DTS, etc).
