I'm new to xbmc and have been through many threads about problems with hdmi audio and have not been able to solve mine. I am not able to get hdmi audio from 9.11. I tried with version 9.04 and hdmi audio worked but I would like to take advantage of the new feature in 9.11.
I'm using a revo 3610 running xbmc live from a usb stick. I have optical going to my stereo and hdmi going to my tv. Optical is set as the passthough device and works without any issues. If I set my main audio device to hdmi, I get "Failed to initialize audio device". If I set the main audio device to default, I don't get the error but I still don't have audio over hdmi, just the optical. Here's the weird part, if I go to the console (ctrl+alt+f2) while a movie is playing, the hdmi audio starts working. As soon as I go back to xbmc(ctrl+alt+f7) the hdmi audio stops again.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a way to resolve it? Thanks for your help.
