Help 24bit colour depth
#1
Hi all,

I am a very new user to Linux, and am quite stuck.

I download XBMC Live with the intention of putting it on an old laptop to use as a media centre. all went well untill the installion was complete.

Everything seems to bootup OK and I see XBMC logo, but just after this I get a prompt saying "XBMC cannot run unless the screen colour depth is at least 24 bit. Please reconfigure your scren." with a quite button below this. When i press the quite button it drops back into command line Ubuntu 9.10.

I would be greatful of any help.

Thanks Ian.

Ouch, that hardware seems pretty ancient. It might have problems with even DIVX content. No wonder the Xserver is giving you fits.

If you want something easy of that approximate power level get an old XBox1. Heck, an XBox 1 would blow that thing out of the water!

If you are determined to trudge forward, maybe try older XBMC Live releases?
