Remote Desktop without disturbing XBMC?
#1
My HTPC also doubles as a home server, loaded with Win7Prox64. I use Remote Desktop right now, and it does exactly what I want it to do. Except, I want to be able to do the same thing while XBMC is running.

This would be really handy so I can remote to the computer via laptop and download things since it's hard-wired to the network.

Is there some RD setting or do I have to set up another program?

I'm doing something similar with W2k8 and had XBMC configured to use a different user account so one account I use for RDP and one account I use for XBMC / Local Smile

I am guessing the problem is that rdp connects to the console like in xp & vista? MS only support multiple sessions in the server editions like win2003 and win2008.

In Vista I solved this by applying a "third party patch" I found in internet. Worked perfectly but I had to redo it for each service pack with a new patch.
With google you can probably find a patch for win7.

yes you can... there is a multi user rdp patch for Win7. a quick web search will find it.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

Here is a link explaining how to do it, but I have not tried it myself yet.
