Crashing after long idle period
#1
Hello all -

I've had an issue that's existed since 9.11 alpha releases, but am unconvinced it's an XBMC bug, as I've searched forums up and down and no one else seems to experience this, so I guess I'm looking to see if anyone else has seen similar behavior?

Anywho...system:
ASRock ION 330
Xubuntu 9.10 32-bit
Nvidia drivers 190.53

After a certain period of idle time (w/ the Fan Art screen saver active, as well as sleeping the display), if I come back and try to play some media, XBMC will crash out. I can immediately pop back in and everything is honky-dory. I can't exactly quantify idle time, but it is on the order of hours usually. Oh yeah...doesn't happen every time either - if it doesn't happen when first trying to play a file after it's idled, then it's not going to crash at all until I let it idle for a while again.

The crash log files are kinda big, and I'm not sure the proper protocol for posting those here. It looks to either by VDPAU or audio related however, based on seeing things like:

00:28:04 T:3079276432 M:1512943616 NOTICE: Attempting recovery
00:28:04 T:3079276432 M:1512943616 NOTICE: (VDPAU) FiniVDPAUOutput
00:28:05 T:3079276432 M:1546235904 ERROR: VDPAU Device Preempted - attempting recovery
00:28:05 T:3079276432 M:1546235904 ERROR: (VDPAU) Error: The display was pre-empted, or a fatal error occurred.(2) at VDPAU.cpp:824

Of course, not all crash logs show VDPAU references.

Any insights from anyone?

Thanks
