I have an already done collection of games well scrapped in my HTPC (frodo) with RCB, i just got an android handheld called JXD S800b and it's awesome but i want to to use the same game collection i already have on my HTPC with xbmc and RCB on this android device and avoid the hassle of rescrape everything again, actually i have a RCB selection of favorite games that i hope can keep in the new handheld, anyone knows which is the less painful way to achieve this? i dont want to redone everything again, i know that ill have to use new emulators and settings, is there a well written guide for android devices about using RCB..,sorry for the dozens of questions

Pretty sure that's your problem. I ran into something similar and had to store the ROMs on a thumb drive and plug into the Fire TV. XBMC knows the path but the emulator program can't access it it seems.

Hi,
and to use Thumb Drive i need Root . right ?
so i have only the internal Storage 4G to use RCB.

Ahhh First touch and pretty surprised about Firetv
Second Touch more and more Amazon limitations Sad

Yep thumb drive requires root unfortunately.

hi guys !

i'm actually trying to create a sort of emulation box with an android dongle abd i think rom collection browser match perfectly this purpose !

but i actually face some problems !

Loading the list is terribly slow when i read the wiki about performance it's written about 2 secs to load 1000 roms for me loading 1000 roms is something around 40 seconds so imagine when you have a game list of 6000 roms !

so my question is is there a solution to enhance that ? how can i change the Mygame.db location (to a faster HDD)

anyway all the rest is awesome good job guys !

Hi all

I've been trying to configure RCB on my XBMC Frodo for some time now. Most of the emulators work straight away, but I can't get MAME to launch properly out of RCB, although the emulator itself works fine with the games. I tried searching the problem on the net, but couldn't find aything:

MAME: I got the games to show up using the offline scraper method, but when I try to launch a game (I launch MAME in solo mode), MAME (I use MAMEUI) stops at the beginning when it is supposed to load the roms, showing a dialog that it can't find any roms for the game (although they are there, because I can launch the games fine using MAMEUI). Strange about the dialog is the facht that it says it was looking for the roms in the folder e.g. "1942 1942", so it seems that the rom name gets replicated when handing over the launch arguments to MAMEUI, but I can't find out where.

Does anybody know this problem and has a cure for it? Thank you very much

@Girgl mame was a tricky one, from memory you need to hard code the full paths in the mame config file. There are several entries that need to be entered, so go by what is already in the config.

Hi Teeedubb

I actually tried both options. Because MAMEUI's error message was showing the rom name twice I deleted the rom path from the config file, with the same result. So using the MAMEUI gui I entered the rom path again, but nothing changed.

Once there were setting on the gwenael.org wiki, but the site is not reachable anymore.

EDIT: do I need to enter the -inipath parameter before the "%ROM%" in RCB for it to work?

Are the scrapers broken on this?

I'm struggling to pick up anything at all artwork and info wise

Alright, I switched to MAME because I thought the problem would be related to my MAMEUI installation. Unfortunately, I get the same results. When launching MAME through RCB in solo mode on my Win 7 64 bit machine with the latest Gotham installed, MAME starts but the shell shows that no roms were found in (for example the game 1942) "1942 1942", and MAME is closed starting XBMC again. When I try to run a NeoGeo game like Metal Slug the text in the shell window shows that there are no roms in the folder "mslug neogeo mslug". The same happens when I try to launch a Konami game, then the shell window shows no roms found in folder "*game* konamigx *game*".

I guess it's a bug within RCB, because I can run all roms fine using command line in MAME, but I'm not sure, as I could not find what is causing this. Any hints would be highly appreciated.

Hi, I'm going to try help you. In my case, when I launch MAME from command line it doesn't load the config, and can't load games from here (I use mameui 0.141). So I indicate the ini and rom path and it works. In RCB the parameter line looks like this: -inipath d:\mame\ini -rompath d:\mame\roms %romname%.

I hope that it works for you.

Don't forget to turn on the option "dont extract zip files".

Hi Ottorox

This is kind of awkward... the solution was extremely simple. For some reason I had changed back the setting "use a full screen window...", and that's actually what caused MAME to behave so strangely. So now at least MAME runs fine and the games start. But now I have a new problem:

I have changed some button mappings in MAME, which were saved in the default.cfg in the cfg directory. Unfortunately, when I start MAME out of RCB, this config file isn't used, and MAME starts with the standard button mappings. I tried to enter the argument -config_directory "C:\Emulators\MAME\cfg" in RCB, but then MAME quits before the game is loaded. Any idea how to solve this issue?

EDIT: stupid me.... Typo, about 3 times... Issue resolved : (
