[LINUX] Problems with frame drops jumps (consume packet error)
#61
My logs show some errors like that too, but not with every video. So maybe it's a bad rip? Does this happen on all your videos?
And do you also get these errors:
Code:
Decode - avcodec_decode_video didn't consume the full packet. size

UglyBob Wrote:I'm wondering if I have the same problem. Playback in 24Hz is never really smooth, I have small stuttering all the time, I loose a frame from time to time. Watched an tv series episode yesterday and had about 100 lost frames after an hour. Seems pretty much to me. And my log is full of these lines:

21:37:49 T:2789202800 M:1222651904 DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity - was:1870980867.632116, should be:1871002043.196242, error:21175.564126

(SNIP)

Please help me find a solution, I'm getting really fed up with this...

What settings do you have in the video section, are you using drop/dupe for sync to video?

so try setting scaling to bilinear.. auto will select higher quality scalers i think, which could be to slow on your gfx

same problem as mentioned above.

Did some more testing and it seems as if some framedrops also occur without a "consume packet error"

i have the same issue here. with nvidia 185, 195 and 256beta drivers. i tried both 9.11 stable and the latest svn on the ppa (cant remember the svn number)

only on 1080p videos (720p seem fine) and it seems to be in the same places each time in the stream.

the 20th century fox logo at the start of avatar does it frequently.

I jumped ship to windows Confused for now.

I can't get any debug logs as I can only run the live cd ,and i dont know how to transfer logs off of it (i normally share /home on a samba server).

It seems to be a regular pattern in some sections. about once per second, maybe slightly more.

I've solved the problem by booting into the xbmc-standalone environment instead of gnome. For now everything is playing smoothly. Maybe you can try this as a solution?

I agree, XBMC-standalone improves things, but unfortunately in my case, it doesn't seem to solve it 100%. The 20th Century Fox logo on certain films is definitely a good test case. It doesn't fail all the time, but it is an easy scene on which you can see these strange errors occurring.

yes, and the judder/jitter/whatever it is, is regular on mine. It happens on the same frames (pretty much).

On my asrock the bug is reproducible with the xbmcfreakv14 live cd.

Can I join the party? Tried everything I could but couldn't fix it. I'm using a R3610 with xbmcfreak911livev14 on a Samsung LE37B652.

Did anyone tried streaming Avatar (40GB) at the beginning of this movie, outer space part you can notice this problem very clearly. (Every 3 sec a little freeze)
At normal ~10 GB movie's I don't see this problem a lot just a little stutter once a while.

It's still watchable for me but I wan't to fix this as bad as you guy's do Nerd

my fix was unfortunately windows 7! gonna try lucid lynx later.

I have avatar straight from my bluray although I ripped the DTS-HD to AAC (i cant hear the difference) , the video remains untouched. Jumps at the same spots each time on the fox logo. I'll up a sample soon.

Log - http://pastebin.com/0bBbVdvP

this is an asrock 330 and the xbmcfreakv14 livecd running the sample i will post in about 1hour.

this looks like a different error, but same symptoms.

Neil - I'm not a master log reader, but it appears you are running at 60 hz with 24fps material. Am I reading that correctly? If so, that's always going to create slight problems with smooth video.

If the problems don't happen on Win 7 then it's very probable this is related to vdpau
