I have a remote to an older sony vaio desktop, its a rm-gp5u. From what I understand, I should edit lircmap to associate my buttons to lirc commands, and then edit the keymap to associate the commands I just defined to xbmc commands.
I was planning on using winlirc on my laptop to find my button commands because that may be easier for me. Then I would edit lircmap and keymap (which already exist with my installation?).
I also noticed there are some lircmaps already posted for other sony remotes.

Is it possible that one of these would work for me?
Do I have any idea what I am talking about?
