Pictures are taking 10+ seconds to display (per picture)... why?
#1
I'm using XBMC on Linux (Ubuntu Server x64) on my Acer 1600 (Intel Atom 1.6 GHz, single-core).

The machine is a bit weak, but it can display 1080p videos without any problem (thanks nVidia ION!) but for some reason it takes 10+ seconds to display pictures (JPEG) that are only a couple of megabytes.

Why?

My "photos" share (SMB/Windows Server 2008 R2) contains a few thousand pictures (I'd guess) but they arell separated into sub-folders so I'm not quite sure what is going on here.

My music share has about 4000 files in multiple-level sub-folders and that seems to load perfectly fine and fast.

is a newest libjpeg that slows things down - affects ubuntu and arch linux (that included the newest library)

or
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=48724

quick search and I seem to have a patch or something - did not build xbmc from scratch so will not apply this time (maybe in the near future)

Any other suggestions then? I'm using an SVN (from 3/23/2010) but have the exact same problem on XBMC Live, etc. Sad

Debug log?

More information such as whether they display quickly if they are local?

Update libjpeg. I had the same problems as you but the newest libjpeg version 7 fix this.
