can anyone take an look at ticket http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8840 (eventualle you must remove/rename ~/.xbmc) ? i have problems using SMB shares because the login/password dialog dont come up. only if i set the location manually to

smb://username:password@server/share

i have access to the shares

this has *nothing* to do with the addons branch merge. the ticket is about 5 weeks old, the issue is older, this is the reason for pinging here in the forum. also the new addons fetures works great here.

otherwise it is not in the interest of the devs to send no more bugreports, help finding issues or discuss here.

i have seen this, and have do an quick test yesterday (i will do some more tests today). but it does not solve the problem. i think there are two problems, one problem is that the login/password dialog dont come up at the first time i will access the samba share (or if renaming/removing ~/.xbmc) , so i cannot login to the server. the next problem is there is no timeout and xbmc will be unusable.

can anyone look again to http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8840 ? there is also another thread about this problem http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=74267. how we can help to fix this issue?
