Let me put it this way
Boxee (and everyone else) has nothing to do with XBMC other than they forked our code base and are nice enough to give back some code and money that they make off it. There is no legal commitment for them to do anything. And other than a verbal "we would like to be nice people and give you back stuff" what they do is their own business and is not related to xbmc at all they are a completely separate business doing their own thing. Team XBMC has no control over anything they do other than making sure they follow the software licence agreement (don't start on dfxplayer again its fine)
Anybody can take XBMC's code make a business and start making money as long as they release the code that is affected by the gpl version we were under at the point they took it. They do not need to ask permission they do not need to give anything back hell they don't even need to tell us.
Boxee is no more related to xbmc than a casual friend their are no financial ties and no cross business platform. they are just nice people and give back to what they took under no obligation to do so.
