PC freezes when DVD is inserted, how to debug?
#1
When I insert a movie DVD (I tries several) and xbmc is running the entire PC freezes. It does not respond to anything, the LCD stops scrolling, I can not ssh into the PC anymore, SysRq does not work for rebooting.
When I switch to the console when xbmc is running and then insert the DVD, the PC also freezes but no message is shown on the console.
When xbmc is not running the PC does not freeze when a DVD is inserted. When I start xbmc when a DVD is in the drive, the PC freezes when xbmc starts.

How can I debug this problem?

I do not think the debug log contains useful information because the PC freezes before the logs are flushed, however, they are here:
http://pastebin.com/pdjTihn8

I tried 9.11 and SVN compiled today (r29034)
Platform: Linux (Debian GNU/Linux testing (squeeze), 2.6.32-3-amd64 x86_64)
The PC is diskless (NFS-root)

I sort of solved it. I replaced the DVD drive with an older one and it works better now. I had a single freeze when playing DVDs but currently I am unable to reproduce this freeze. So I guess this is more a hardware and/or linux kernel problem than an xbmc problem.
