[LIVE] Xbmc Live Network settings - missing assignment, ip address, etc.
#1
Sorry if this has been answered before; I've been looking for quite a while.

My network settings don't have:
Assignment
IP Address
Network
Default Gateway
DNS Server

All I can see is:
Services
SMB Client
Internet Access

I am using XBMC Live 9.11 and am connected via Ethernet cable. The reason I can tell that I do not have network, as I cannot connect the weather. I am not sure what I am missing ?

Cheers,
dhoodle

The old network settings was removed since it needed root privs, they are planned to be reentered when we have userspace tools available that can do the same thing (this however is far from a reality).

I suggest you use DHCP or set up static through terminal.

Cheers,
Tobias

Thanks for your reply Tobias.

I was wondering how I setup DHCP - as I have not a clue.

All I know is that even when I plug into the network - I do not have a network connection.

Cheers,
Brendan

XBMC Live checks via DHCP by default, so its up to your router.

If you usually don't have to do anything to set up network or doesn't know how to setup static ip then you probably use DHCP Smile

Thanks again for your reply Tobias.

I think the issue was because when I setup the Live version, I was not connected to the network, and skipped that part Oo

I was able to set it up by following this guide.
