Hello all
I'm a newbie to Linux, XBMC and to this forum. I am having a problem that I hope you can help with, please. The search engine gave nothing.
The problem is that when I click the standby button, and then select "Exit XBMC", the whole computer hangs. I have to give it the finger.
XBMC did this the very first time I used it, and this, combined with other major problems, has left me very unimpressed so far. I hope that will change.
My set up:
Hardware: Acer Revo Aspire 3610, dual ION 330, Nvidia ION.
Linux: Ubuntu netbook remix 9.10. Installed from a USB drive.
If it's relevant, I am temporarily using a VGA connection to my LCD TV.
I will post about the other problems in separate threads so as not to muddy this one. Hoping you can shed some light on this very annoying glitch.
Thanks in advance
DC

Troubleshoot. Start with the debug log.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first. ![]() |

Sorry, i dont know how to get the debug log
i have tried a full re-install with a new downloaded XBMC release, same problem. And now i've noticed it doesnt actually play any files, selecting any file to play also crashes it. Same build works fine on my MBP but the Mac Mini doesnt like it at all. Might do a full re-install |

My bad, will try and get a debug log tonight
Edit: Nevermind, doing a full format & reinstall on the Mac first, if the problem remains i'll come back with debug log. Hopefully its fine, XBMC works so smooth on the MBP

Ok good news, i've worked it out accidentally.
So my Mac Mini had a soundcard problem where basically it couldnt see it. I opened up the Mini and disconnected the souncard, cleaned up the contacts and plugged it back in. The sound is back! Great. Turns out the lack of a soundcard was crashing XBMC, now the sound and XBMC is working fine |

Thanks for the input. I reintalled the same image (the Revo 1600 image sourced from this forum) several times, and it hasn't happened since. The only strange thing is that "shut down" doesn't actually shut down. It does the same as "Exit XBMC" in taking me back to the command line.
If the hang happens again I will try to find the log. Cheers |
