5.1 audio through hdmi
#1
Hi, I have XBMC 9.11 installed on a revo 3610. The machine is connected to a receiver capable of decoding AC3 and DTS via hdmi, so XBMC directs those to the receiver and they work as intended. But I also have some videos with aac 5.1 sound. I suppose XBMC should decode and send audio to the receiver but my receiver only receive two channel audio. Also, I do not hear people when they talk, I suspect XBMC decodes aac sound well but for some reason 4 remaining channels do not reach the receiver. I wonder if I miss some configuration. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestion.

I suggest that you read the following post. It informs you about the aac codec and its support in XBMC.

You'll also have trouble with AAC 6c in MKV wrappers for sure, I had remux all of my MKVs with 6c AAC into AC3. Which I suspect that post deals with.
