When I hit 'i' to get to the show info to get more fan art nothing happens. It just stays on the main info screen and never searches remotely.

Perhaps I'm missing the whole point here. When you press 'i' you will normally be presented with a number of options along the botton of the screen, one of which will be fanart, highlight it and click and you will then be presented with all fanart that is available from the scraper you previously set in 'content set-up'.

Although it may be dependant on the build version you are using - scraper support until recently has been quite buggy. See here on how to report a problem http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=42708.
