Remote folder navigation
#1
Hi all,
I've got a question regarding folder navigation: With XBMC, browsing through local folders to find movies or music files is no problem.

But I couldn't figure out how to enable folder navigation while connecting with XBMC as UPNP client to a XBMC server which has the sources attached. All I can see and navigate are the video and the music library. :confused2:

Is there any way to browse the physical folders of a remote XBMC server? This will be the only useful option for searching video podcasts because XBMC can't handle them correctly when adding to its library.

Thanks in advance,
Uwe

Nope - library only.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.

Do you have to use uPNP? I use SMB to browse my (Windows) server and browsing the folders is just like browsing on a local disk.

Hi JR, please correct me if I'm wrong but the media will not be streamed using SMB shares...

Ok, a longer version can be found in XBMC wiki:

I will test it and hope it won't blow up my netbook Wink

Thanky, Uwe
