That would be a pretty awesome Windows 7 HTPC.

Add a Nvidia GPU and you got Linux covered as well...

I will be using win7 since I have no good linux knowledge. I guess installing will be no problem, but in case of any failures, I would be compületely clueless...

This ist also one point, why I do not want to use an ION platform. I will need to have 1080p capability.

Also I want to have some performance reserve, in case there will be any new codecs in some years or so...who knows...maybe I will add a TV card someday

so you think this setup is good?

btw, I will not play games on that system

Whole thing looks good, and I like how you leave yourself room to get a new GPU in the future.

For reference though, a ION based box WILL play 1080p. In fact the only real difference between what you are building and a ION box (in regards to capability) is that an ION box can't handle Adobe Flash in 1080p.

But that is probably a good thing for you- why not be future proof?

Hi,

just some feedback.

Works great in this combination. The remote control is not really that great, I bought a dinovo mini. And the display is also not that good. Too bright.

But overall a very good solution. Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers,
pepe
