[xbcm4kids] - A skin for kids

I have updated the pictures of the project in its current state.

And right now im trying to organize all the feedback that i have gotten.
This is also my first skin so it will prob take some time until i have a finished skin. But will put up repository on github when im (and you are) satisfied with the skinmashup.

And this is just a work in progress there is alot that im not satisfied with. Like the logo position and background in the videolist, and the buttons on the homescreen.

I was searching the net for icons with my little 4 year old today and she saw these below and it really caught her eye.

what about something based like that for the main buttons? Im sure someone can design something for this skin with a cartoon like character.

The goal is to make user able to switch the icons on the homescreen as they see it fit.
But it sure would be nice to have a nice looking default icons.(since i lack the skill to make some.)
Still searching the net for some perfect icons that hasnt got a nasty copyright.(and is as unisex as it can get)

To me that looks a bit to much simplicity is the way forward, here is a quick mock i done for something i think would work for kids.

Kids don't need all the fancy stuff just what looks cool, colourful and easy to see what's happening on screen.



I will prob do a skin for kids at some point but like i said before you only need to do what they will use. so no movie info no fancy animations no dialogs that are not essential so on.

One Idea for the HOME from Me. I like the arrow/shield Style to the buttons.

Im targeting a young age right now and feel that your mock is for older kids.
But i would be a happy chap if im allowed to be inspired from your design, to the second design(for older kids) in my skin when im finished with the first one.
