It's not me the author of the patch! I just found it and reported here.
Anyway it works great for me (Mac OS X)

Just wondering if you require the paid Grooveshark anywhere subscription for this to work? Ive put in the username and password of my standard free grooveshark account but keep gettting the error message that username or password is wrong.

Dont worry just found out you do.

Click on the issue 55 and download the rar.

Also when I download and then install this rar from my "install add ons from zip file menu" I end up getting another version of Grooveshark listed in my add ons. So I have Grooveshark and Grooveshark XBMC.

Neither of them work with Grooveshark giving me the new session id error and Grooveshark xbmc saying my user and pass is wrong. And then searches return nothing.

Did I install the addon fix wrong?

Here is my log file if it helps..

Thanks heaps.

macf1an Wrote:for the "plugin version" you need a paid account
for this one - the "script version" - you do not

Ok this answers my first post..But what exactly is the plug in version and the script version?

Ok Ive found out the difference between the plug in and the script, so I've removed the plug in because I don't have Grooveshark anywhere account. I tried updating the script with the zip at issue 55 as suggested by sonyck but still get the error about unable to load session ID.

Any ideas on what else I can try?

I got it..the "patched" version creates a folder script.audio.grooveshark-for-xbmc. It does not overwrite the old one script.audio.grooveshark and the icon in the menu continues pointing to it and still gives the old error. Deleting the old grooveshark and installing this one (after repackaging it to zip) fixes it.

Strange fact: some of my default searches return way less artists..e.g. "offspring" returns 3 and the site has the full list

solver, I hope you are still reading ..

I unpacked the zip for the fix and it worked and played several songs and when restating the grooveshark started and then when selecting a song it started spinning and then froze up and would not play the song.
any suggestion other than the one above.Using xbmc RC2

OK guys, that's what I did.

1 - Installed the script through repository. Run it -> doesn't work
2 - Deleted plugin folder ( script.audio.grooveshark )
3 - Unrar'd the patched one and renamed it as the original one ( script.audio.grooveshark-for-xbmc -> script.audio.grooveshark )

I didn't try to extract and copy the patched one only without installing the repository one at first, though I think it should works anyway.

macf1an, I don't know who wrote the patch, he didn't even sign his post, so I can't report back, sorry.

PS using RC2 on OSX

Not to blame any recent suggestion since I'm not sure exactly what change caused this, just a friendly warning; my WAN ip address was banned by Grooveshark somehow while trying to get this addon working. Eek

This was pretty obvious since both http://listen.grooveshark.com and http://html5.grooveshark.com didn't work through any browser/device connected to my ISP's WAN ip (only that «Error playing song» message) - but worked ok using a 3G connection... Luckily I actually have more than one external ip included from my ISP so no waiting for any dhcp lease to expire here. Smile

I copied the contents from the patched folder to the script.audio.grooveshark folder overwriting all files and now I dont have the id failure problem.
