There are ways to get almost every remote to work with XBMC, whether its using registry entries or EventGhost.
Main - Intel E6750 C2D (2.66ghz)/Geforce 240
Bedroom - Intel E3300 C2D (2.5ghz)/Geforce 210
Guest Bedroom - Acer Revo 1600/ION LE
Test Desktop - Intel Q9300 C2Q (2.5ghz)/Geforce 9600 GSO

If kids/clueless wives are involved there is only one option for a remote:

A Logitech Harmony

Plenty of models, pick one in your budget and enjoy never having to teach anyone what "input" something is hooked to ever again....

Hi,

I have tried a few remotes over the last week for my new windows xbmc setup, and the ps3 bluray remote is incredible. It's bluetooth so functions perfectly in terms of connection, and was super simple to set up. Just install the fantastic program from http://www.benbarron.com/applications and it works like a dream. You might want to reconfigure a few buttons as you wish, but that is simple to do.

Cheers,

RB
