Thanks, davilla.
I have one question. Is it possible to powerdown appletv properly?
Currently, the led on the atv is still 'on' if it is switched off from menu.
I would like to actually shut it down on idle (let's say after 2 hours). What is the best solution?

There is none, the Apple TV doesn't support ACPI and cannot be shut down, put to sleep, hibernate or anything in between.

This thread is so long and unorganized that it's almost impossible to find any answers.
I had my aTV working nicely booting off a USB flash drive, but the wife shut it down one too many times and now the file system is corrupt (apparently beyond repair) and it no longer boots. I was going to just re-image the flash drive, but wanted to see if any new .img files had been released since "atv-usbboot-xbmcbuntu-crystalhd-hdmi-28256-R3.img" which is what I started out with last time.
I also now have a 2nd aTV that I'm going to attempt to setup for a friend and would like to install to the hard drive on it. Once I get a flash drive working nicely, can this be transfered to the internal hard drive?

Hi!
I gave download the small image and made the usb drive but when i try to boot from usb it says ''Waiting for root file system....'' and after a while
-------------------------
Check root= bootary cat /proc/cmdline
or missing module.........
/dev/sdb3 does not exist. Dropping to shell.
--------------------------
I have no disk inside because my ide cable went dead so i'd like to use only usb without hard drive.
