Zotac HD-ID11 Overheating Problems
#1
I'm having problems with my Zotac HD-ID11 overheating. It doesn't matter if I'm playing SD or HD video, after about an hour it will start dropping frames or even just shut off. The fan is working properly, but you can tell by touch it is getting way too hot. Processor usage is really low even playing 1080p H.264 files. Has anyone else experienced this? I only have about a week remaining in my 30 day return period, so I need to figure out if this is a hardware or software problem soon. I have tried a couple of different memory modules, so I know that's not the problem. Right now I am using XBMCFreak Livecd 9.11 v14 on a flash drive. I haven't tried any of the fixes for HDMI sound, I've just been using Toslink. Any suggestions are appreciated.

It's probably the GPU frying things - not the CPU. I would suggest getting it replaced while you have the chance.

Gee - this new Zotac box seems like a bit of a stinker all round....

I agree it is probably GPU usage causing it. I wonder if it could be a driver problem?

Temps are not reported in XBMC, but if I reboot and check BIOS after overheating it reports 51 - 55C.

At this point I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem. I flashed the new BIOS and made a new XBMC live disk. This time it stated dropping frames after like 3 minutes and it smelled like burning. Going to RMA, hopefully my replacement works better.

Thanks for the replies/help
