Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm not sure what search phrases to use but....
I'm using xbmc on an asus ion htpc and everything was working perfectly until i took it apart to swap out the fans for more silent ones. after putting it back together, the main aeon menu appeared bigger than usual, but that's not the actual problem.
The sound through hdmi stopped working altogether and after messing around with the audio settings, both in xbmc and alsa, I have xvids working fine, but not mkv's.
They play a loud scratchy sound if the wrong pass through device is selected, so every time I want to watch one, I have to go back to the audio settings and change the pass through, yet I'm pretty sure I had both enabled before the problem.
Anyone know what the issue could be?
