CrystalHD & current SVN builds of XBMC?
#76
So if I read this thread correctly... these errors are occuring only on the old layout cards? so if I put in a newer card, either the currently selling 970012 or a newer 970015, it should work?

Yes, new layout bcm70012 seem fine and as of tonight, bcm70015 should be also fine (XBMC playback).

any hope that the old layout issues will be addressed? I'm assuming that we are waiting on Broadcom at this point?

Depends, if this is really being caused by firmware being loaded in a different place and that place in the card's DRAM has defective ram, there's not much that can be done except to stick with the old driver. Defective ram is defective ram. It's still early in the analysis process, an old layout card is winging it's way to me.

ok, good luck Big Grin

Is there a prior svn revision that I could check out and compile that may work, or is it a fw issue that all revisions will have?

Yes, I agree... the latest builds are getting much better. 720p playback is near perfect, with only the minor hiccup/stutter here or there, if at all..

1080p playback is where the issues are, I think.. I played back a 1080 rip of Avatar (1920x1080, 5944 Kbps, High Profile 4.1, 4 ref Frames, and DTS audio) and it's mostly watchable with a minor stutter every few mins or so.. and only major stutters from time to time..

Seems like things are improving vastly and I can't wait to try out the new CrystalHD drivers - although there appears to be issues w the new drivers/fw and the old layout cards.

So i updated to the newest SVN, now having stuttering a few times a minute... I'm thinking it's because of the audio...
720p movies and hd shows that played fine before now stutter briefly all the time...

Launcher 3.2.5
AppleTV OS 3.0.1
Old style Broadcom card
SVN 31686
log pastebin: http://pastebin.com/XG5hgx7f
movie starts around line 600
audio issues around line 800
i didn't post the complete log, but pretty much it looks like lines 850 onward throughout the movie...

The bcm70012 does not handle H264 part 2, only H264 part 10

Format : MPEG-4
Format profile : Base Media / Version 2

Not sure how that is slipping by the checks.
