[LINUX] VDPAU doesnt activate?
#1
Hi, wondering if anyone can help.

I can use smplayer with VDPAU for smooth 1080p playback. I've installed lucid lynx with the libvdpau1 libraries and a fresh re-install of XMBC. When I enable debugging, it seems that the CPUs are at 60 percent each.

Heres the paste bin

I've already set the CPU throttling to 100% (2.6 ghz)

I have a asus m3n78-vm with 2 gigs ram, using 8200 IGP.

1080ps under XBMC dont play smoothly. I've set the playback option from auto to VDPAU and back, no dice, tried all combos of the av sync, vertical sync, etc etc... if it can play smoothly under smplayer (front end to mplayer) then surely it should play smoothly under xbmc?

Would love to get it working properly. Thanks in advance for help. Apologies if I have missed any info, more than happy to provide.

VDPAU is working, the jerks are caused by the discontinuity errors in the log.
During playback select the 2 channel ac3 audio in the audio and subtitles dialog and see if that works.

Hey bobo

I disable pulse audio with the command

sudo apt-get autoremove pulseaudio

and then chose analog 7.1 surround in the audio settings. It seems to help with the other mkv i was testing before, but with this mkv, its still quite jerky.

I've attached the log again... thanks again for your help.

Maybe it's just the file.
Try a different player, check if you get similar results.

please paste the console output of "aplay -l" and tell us which audio settings you have selected in XBMC
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs
