Video playback aspect ratio wrong.
#1
I've been using 9.11 R26018 for quite a while with no problems. But have been playing around with some newer versions and I'm having a problem with my videos being squashed verticaly like so:-

All of my videos are encoded using Handbrake and the AppleTV preset. The videos all play correctly on the AppleTV as well as Windows Media Center, MediaPortal and a Popcorn Hour A110.

This problem is the same regardless of platform, I have tried Linux, Linux Live, Windows and AppleTV versions of XBMC with the same results.

Yep, the calibration square is perfectly square using the default value of 1.0.

Just noticed that XBMC seems to think my video files have an aspect ratio of 3.4:1 instead of 2.4:1.

After some more investigation is seems that ffmpeg in XBMC versions above 9.11R26017 reports the PAR and DAR twice with different values for some reason.

9.11R26017
INFO: ffmpeg[18F8]: Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 720x560 [PAR 23:16 DAR 207:112], 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 180k tbc

INFO: ffmpeg[1168]: Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 720x560 [PAR 23:16 DAR 207:112], 164 kb/s, PAR 529:256 DAR 4761:1792, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 180k tbc

This is the only reason I can think of for the incorrect aspect ratio, any ideas as this problem makes XBMC unusable to me.

OK so all my movie files are m4v's for the AppleTV and play with an incorrect aspect ratio in XBMC versions higher than 9.11R26017.

However if I demux one for the m4v files and remux the streams into a mkv container it then plays perfectly in all versions of XBMC.

So it seems that newer versions of XBMC screw up the playback of m4v files. This really needs looking at please.

Yep, now I know it's a m4v problem I see there's a trac ticket open for it.

Lets hope it gets fixed soon.
