Playing slow 24bits 88.2kHz alac (m4a) file (encoded from FLAC with XLD or MAX). 48, 96kHz also plays in the wrong speed. XBMC plays the original flac file ok.

The sample rate XBMC is showing during playback of the m4a file (cmd-o) is 16bits either 22. or 44.1kHz depending on who encoded it.

At first I thought was a problem of the encoder but it is playing ok on iTunes, and also in non-apple app like Decibel, and both show the correct bit depth and sample rate but as with XBMC, VLC and audacity show conflicting and varying info about those.

It seems to be the way the m4a header file is being interpreted.

It does not seem to be a MAC specific as I have seen the same problem on WINDOWS specific thread
