I have been looking all over the forums and I cant find anyone with this issue. My SMB shares have been working fine for a year now and then a few days ago I decided to setup a Windows Media Center Extender on 360 so that I could play some HD movies and afterwards XBMC now asks me for a username and password even though I dont have one set.
Heres some of my info and things ive tried:
--Im running Windows 7 64bit
--XBOX is wired to my router
--Media Sharing is on
--Password Protected Sharing is off
--I have no passwords set
--Same results with windows firewall on and off
--uninstalled Windows Live Sign-in Assistant
--The shares on my room mates laptop are still accessible in XBMC with no problems
--I installed Trancoder 360 just before this happened and set it up using this guide for Win7
--I am not in a Homegroup (realized I was in one after setting up the extender so I chose leave homegroup)
--XBMC still sees my pc under WORKGROUPS but wont let me choose it without a username and password
is there some kind of security permissions that are changed when setting up windows media center on 360?? :confused2:
