I don't know what length of time triggers it but at the moment I think it's a little too low because I'm seeing all over the place. Most of the time it's only for a split second and seems pointless. The worst one is when accessing video information.

Agreed - will bump it up to a second or so.

r31480 increases it to 500ms - there's a define at the top of Directory.cpp if you want to play around to find a better number - let's see how this one goes and we can tweak it from there.
